Abstract

One of the most striking features of today's world is the disparity between poverty and wealth; between starvation and abundance; between want and luxury. In this paper a global perspective is taken, in an attempt to explain how this inequality originated, and from this attempt at explanation the central argument unfolds; it being that the analysis of underdevelopment is inseparable from that of development; that they are in fact parts of the same process; parts of a continuing action.
