Richard Bale is Head of Modern Languages at the Brunel Language Centre, Brunel University London. His research interests include interpreter and translator education, and second language pedagogy, particularly the use of new technologies and drama and performance in the classroom.

Alba Bordetas holds a PhD in Hispanic Studies from the University of Toulouse – Jean Jaurès. Her research focuses on how audio-visual semiotics can support didactics of foreign languages. She teaches Spanish at the same university and her academic interests include teaching language/culture through art, especially aural-visual comprehension through filmed theatre and films. She is the author of Jeu et représentation dans l’enseignement des langues étrangères (2014).

Amir Hossein Esmkhani, born in Zanjan, Iran, holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature and a Master’s in Applied Linguistics with the focus of TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) from Allameh Tabatabee University in Tehran, as well as a Post-graduate Diploma of Education with the focus of Information Communication Technologies from Monash University. As an ELICOS teacher at Monash College in 2012-2016, he became interested in using drama in teaching of foreign languages. He is now managing his own language school in Zanjan, Iran.

Sandrine Eschenauer ist Fortbildnerin im Bereich Fremdsprachendidaktik und DaF. Ihre Schwerpunktthemen betreffen Sprachmittlungsformen und performative Lehr-/Lernansätze in der Fremdsprachenbildung. Sie promoviert derzeit unter der Leitung von Prof. Joëlle Aden (Université Paris-Est Créteil, France) und der Ko-Leitung von Prof. Wolfgang Sting (Universität Hamburg) zum Thema „Sprachen, Empathie und ästhetische Erfahrung“ und erforscht dabei eine enaktive Pädagogik des Transsprechens (translanguaging), basierend auf der performativen Theaterpraxis im simultanen Unterricht zweier Fremdsprachen im mehrsprachigen Schulkontext.

Stefanie Giebert ist Sprachdozentin für Englisch und DaF an der Hochschule Konstanz sowie Lehrbeauftragte für Englisch und interkulturelle Kommunikation. Seit über 15 Jahren ist sie in (vor allem englischsprachigen) Theaterprojekten aktiv und beschäftigt sich seit mehreren Jahren mit Dramapädagogik, zum Beispiel leitete sie jahrelang das Business English Theatre, ein Theaterprojekt für Studierende an der Hochschule Reutlingen. Ihre aktuellen Interessen umfassen Dramapädagogik für den Bereich English for Special Purposes (ESP), Literaturdidaktik (v.a. Adaption nicht-dramatischer Texte im Theater) und angewandte Improvisation.

Eva Göksel is a research assistant at the Center for Oral Communication at the University of Teacher Education Zug, Switzerland (Zentrum Mündlichkeit, Pädagogische Hochschule Zug). She is also a PhD candidate at the University of Zurich, focusing on the personal and professional development of (student) teachers who work with drama in education. Eva grew up in Vancouver, BC, Canada. She completed her master’s degree at the University of British Columbia in language and literacy education, studying the motivational aspects of drama activities in elementary school for learning French as a second language.

Nina Hasenzagl, BEd absolvierte das Lehramtsstudium Englisch, Geographie und Wirtschaftskunde an der KPH Krems/Wien. Unterrichtspraxis erwarb sie u.a. in der Erwachsenenbildung (Fremdsprachenunterricht Englisch) und seit 2015 als Lehrerin an einer NMS in Niederösterreich. Derzeit absolviert sie den Masterlehrgang „Theaterpädagogik“ an der KPH Wien/Krems, wo sie ihre Masterarbeit im Bereich „Kompetenzerwerb durch Theater in der Schule“ verfasst. Zudem ist sie an der Durchführung von schulischen und außerschulischen Kultur- und Theaterprojekten für Kinder und Jugendliche interessiert.

Dagmar Höfferer-Brunthaler ist Lehrerin für Deutsch und Bewegung & Sport an einem Wiener Gymnasium, wo sie Theaterprojekte mit Kindern und Jugendlichen umsetzt. Eine abgeschlossene Ausbildung zur Drama- und Theaterpädagogin (Master of Arts) ermöglicht auch die Arbeit mit Menschen außerhalb der Schule. Tanz und Bewegung sowie die Konzentration auf die Sprache (DaZ) sind Schwerpunkte der theatralen Arbeit. Dagmar Höfferer ist seit zwei Jahren Landessprecherin Wien der Bundesarbeitsgemeinschaft "Theater in der Schule" (BAGTIS) und seit einem Jahr Obfrau von IDEA. Austria. In dieser Funktion organisiert sie den internationalen Kongress "Drama in Education", der im April 2017 in der Steiermark stattfinden wird.

Todd Hooper is a lecturer at Setsunan University located in Osaka, Japan. He has a Master’s of Linguistics (TESOL) from the University of Surrey, U.K. His main areas of research are in critical thinking and teaching English through history and drama. Recently he has started to explore the use of comics and graphic novels to encourage students to learn about the culture of English speaking countries. He hopes to encourage students to discover the fun of language learning through the narrative present in history, drama, and comics. Once inspired, students can then use language to tell their own stories.

Matthew Michaud has a Master’s of Applied Linguistics from The University of Newcastle, Australia. His main areas of research are in linguistics, teaching English through drama, screenplay analysis, communicative competence, and multiliteracies. Since March 2016 he has relocated to Vancouver, Canada, where he has taught at the English Language Institute at UBC, as well as various other colleges. He now enjoys the greenery, mountains, clean air, and multiculturalism that Vancouver exudes, while pondering new research interests as he teaches students from all around the world.

Miho Moody is currently teaching at the Nagoya University of Foreign Studies as an associate professor. She gained her masters degree from the University of Durham on her research; Drama for foreign language teaching. Since then she has been teaching English for twenty years. Yasuko Shiozawa is a professor of English at Bunkyo University in Japan. Since obtaining an MA in English at Washington State University, she has been working at colleges for about 30 years. Her current interest lies in integrating DIE in English to holistic education. She is now on a three-year government-subsidized project on developing social skills as well as language proficiency through drama techniques.
