Nataliia Dzhyma has been an English language teacher at the Institute of International Relations, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kiev since 1993. In 2003 she spent several weeks as a visiting scholar at University College Cork and, during her stay, familiarized herself with the drama-based teaching and learning methodologies developed by Manfred Schewe. These have become the main source of inspiration for a new training programme for future Ukrainian diplomats that Nataliia Dzhyma has introduced at Kiev University. Her specific research interests focus on the interrelationship between the medium of film and drama pedagogy in the teaching of empathy.

Stefanie Giebert graduated with a PhD in English Literature from Trier University and now works at Reutlingen University. She is the founder, playwright and director of the Business English Theatre at Reutlingen University, a drama course for students from different disciplines. Apart from that she freelance teaches a variety of courses in English at university level – from intercultural management over presentation skills to acting workshops, sometimes also English drama workshops for younger learners. Her (research) interests include drama/theatre in teaching English for Specific Purposes, fantastic literature and creative writing.

Alexandra Hensel ist seit 2007 Lehrkraft am Lektorat DaF der Abteilung Interkulturelle Germanistik an der Universität Göttingen. Dort unterrichtet sie alle Niveaustufen und leitet auch den Kurs “Deutsch lernen durch Theaterspiel“. Nach dem Studium der Kulturwissenschaften mit dem Schwerpunkt Theater/Theaterpädagogik an den Universitäten Hildesheim und Utrecht/Holland, verschiedenen Tätigkeiten bei Theaterfestivals und dem Einstieg in den DaF-Bereich in Madrid/Spanien, gelangte sie zum performativen Unterrichten. Ihr Schwerpunkt ist die Verbindung des künstlerischen Ausdrucks mit der Spracharbeit. Sie gibt hierzu auch Fortbildungen für Lehramtsstudierende sowie für DaF-Lehrkräfte.

Bärbel Jogschies, Schauspielerin/Theaterpädagogin/Dozentin, Jahrgang 1961, aufgewachsen in Stralsund, Studium an der Hochschule für Schauspielkunst „Ernst Busch“ Berlin, 1988 bis 1996 als Schauspielerin auf der Bühne am Theater Vorpommern, 1996 Studium der Theaterpädagogik an der Universität der Künste Berlin, bei Kristin Wardetzky und Wolfgang Nickel, ab 1998 Theaterpädagogin beim Theaterpädagogischen Dienst Berlin, 2002 bis 2008 am Maxim Gorki Theater, initiierte theaterpädagogische Wissenschaftsprojekte zum Thema Chemie, Medizin, Physik. 2008-2010 Aufbau der Theaterpädagogischen Abteilung am Theater Heilbronn. Seit 2010 leitet sie die Theaterpädagogik am Staatsschauspiel Hannover, organisierte u.a. FairCulture-Festival, Lehraufträge an Universitäten und Hochschulen in Berlin, Hannover, Heilbronn, Greifswald, bei der Theaterpädagogischen Ausbildung nach BUT in Sachsen-Anhalt.

Morgan Koerner is an Associate Professor of German at the College of Charleston, South Carolina. His research interests include contemporary German theatre performances, comedy, disability studies, and theatre and foreign language learning. He has recently published articles on theatre and foreign language learning, creative writing and parody as an approach to FL literature, and performances and films by Christoph Schlingensief.

Deborah Newton is Programme Leader for the BA (Hons) Acting for Live and Recorded Media and tutor for FdA Theatre and Performance courses at The Arden School of Theatre in Manchester. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Performance which focuses on the performer-audience relationship and involves a metatheoretical analysis of contemporary performance and the search for a new metatheoretical concept resulting in a proposed new aesthetic ontology of performance. As an emerging artist she continues to be actively involved in performance-making both in this country and abroad.

Isobel Ní Riain lectures in Irish language and literature in the Modern Irish Department of University College Cork, Ireland. She earned a PhD in Irish in 1994 from UCC. She has taught Irish in England and English language and literature in Egypt. She is interested in education and particularly in performative teaching and learning. She is currently working on a project that looks at native speakers of Irish and their experience of studying the Irish language in UCC.

Anke Stöver-Blahak worked as a lecturer in China for one year. Since 1989 she has been employed in the field of German as a Foreign Language at the Leibniz Universität Hannover. She was a member of the managing board of the professional association for German as a Foreign Language (teachers and researchers in Germany). Currently she is the coordinator of German as a Foreign Language at the Center of Applied Linguistics in Hannover. In 2012 she was awarded a PhD in methods of aesthetic communication in foreign language teaching. At present she is developing a new concept in cooperation with Hanover’s State Theatre, which combines theatre methods in language learning with real theatre and allows students of German as a Foreign language to participate in authentic German culture.

Carola Surkamp is Professor of TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) at the University of Goettingen, Germany. After her studies in English, French and Spanish at the Universities of Cologne and Nantes (France), she taught English Literature and Film at the University of Giessen. She is the co-author of various books on the use of films and literature in the foreign language classroom, among them Englische Literatur unterrichten 1: Grundlagen und Methoden (2010/2006; with Ansgar Nünning) and Filme im Englischunterricht: Grundlagen, Methoden, Genres (2011; with Roswitha Henseler and Stefan Möller). She also edited the encyclopedia Metzler Lexikon Fremdsprachendidaktik (2010). Her main research interests include literature and film in the EFL classroom and at university, teaching reading, drama activities in language learning and (inter)cultural learning.

Annegret Thiem ist APL-Professorin für Romanische Philologie (Kultur- und Literaturwissenschaften) am Institut für Romanistik an der Universität Paderborn. Ihre Forschungsschwerpunkte liegen in der lateinamerikanischen und spanischen Literatur und Kultur unter besonderer Berücksichtigung genderspezifischer Aspekte, raumtheoretischer Konzepte und aktueller Identitätsdiskurse. Seit 2008 arbeitet sie an verschiedenen spanischsprachigen Theaterprojekten mit Studierenden und verstärkt in der fremdsprachendidaktischen Lehre zu alternativen Lehr- und Lernmethoden.

Silja Weber is a PhD student in Germanic Studies and Second Language Studies at Indiana University Bloomington, USA and has been teaching German language courses there since 2010. Her background is in linguistics, and she is interested in the intersection between pedagogy and second language acquisition research, in particular for investigating the effects of drama pedagogy in foreign language learning on students' emotions, classroom dynamics, and oral language skills. Further interests include critical pedagogy and drama for social justice. She is also the facilitator of the department-internal pedagogy workshops by and for assistant instructors.

Karel Zdarek teaches ELT Methodology and Drama in English at the Faculty of Education at Charles University, Prague. He also teaches English and Drama at Johannes Kepler High-school. He is an actor in a theatre group Divadlo BEZ PRKEN and his natural inclination towards the use of role-play in teaching English has become an integrated part of his teaching practice and style. In 2012/13 he worked on his dissertation at the City University of New York as a Fulbright research scholar. His research explores the use of role-playing in ELT and recently the use of ICT in education.
