About the Journal
The Irish Screen Studies Journal represents the collected efforts of the Irish Screen Studies board members (past and present) to preserve and disseminate research presented at and inspired by the annual ISS conference.
This journal represents both research contributions on screen media based in Ireland and research outside or Ireland relating to Ireland, Irishness, and Irish-produced and co-produced media.
The annual ISS event offers a unique platform for the presentation of new work – research, practice, and research through practice – by scholars and filmmakers from third-level institutions in Ireland, as well as from those working on Irish screen-related topics in other universities and colleges worldwide. Issues of the journal are predominantly based on the themes and contributions at the annual conference but are open to submissions from any screen scholar who wishes to contribute.
Our long articles are double-blind peer-reviewed while our dossier of shorter articles receives careful editorial attention and offers feedback to authors.
This journal is Open Access (OA) so it is freely available, without charge, to the user or their institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author.
