Representations and Significations of Isolation in Bo Burnham’s 'Inside' (2021)
Keywords:

Deriving from the conditions COVID-19 imparted on society, Bo Burnham’s Inside (2021)
is an experimental musical comedy in which solo live performance is deconstructed. This interdisciplinary, metanarrative performance was specific to the immediate context of the pandemic, as well as engaging more broadly with the digital age. This paper seeks to examine how Burnham performs social isolation as a form of social commentary on
isolation, COVID-19, and our increasing reliance on digital spheres.
