Alex is a drama education project at the intersection of research, teacher training and school language teaching. The project involves testing and evaluating drama education workshops, with the aim of increasing motivation to learn, enhancing willingness to engage in active language production, and fostering the development of personal and social skills. In collaboration between representatives of university research, students and schoolteachers, short drama education workshops (1–2 lessons) were conducted in Czech nurseries, primary schools, secondary schools and universities. This article does not provide empirical evidence of the impact, but rather offers an illustrative insight into a collaborative model that has been implemented. The integration of drama-based teaching methods is formally justified by the affective learning objectives and the promotion of key personal and social skills set out in the Czech Framework Curriculum (RVP). The workshops serve as a model for a practical, time-efficient exercise structure designed to increase students’ willingness to speak and their self-confidence in foreign language teaching.
